Passenger Airlifted After Small Experimental Plane Crashes in Lincoln County, North Carolina
IRON STATION, N.C. — One passenger was seriously injured and airlifted to hospital care following a small plane crash near the Lincolnton-Lincoln County Airport on Friday afternoon, authorities confirmed.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, the incident occurred approximately half a mile southwest of the airport runway. The aircraft involved was described as an experimental, vintage-style plane designed to resemble a World War II-era aircraft.
Emergency responders from Atrium Health transported the passenger by air due to the severity of their injuries. The pilot sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene.
