Two Teenagers Die in M1 Collision Near Lutterworth – Police Appeal for Witnesses
A tragic road accident on the M1 near Lutterworth has claimed the lives of two teenagers, prompting an urgent investigation and public appeal for information.
According to Leicestershire Police, emergency services were called shortly after 1:30pm on April 10, 2026, following reports of a serious collision near junction 20. A blue car traveling along Gilmorton Lane reportedly left a road bridge above the motorway and collided with a southbound minibus.
The crash occurred near Lutterworth, drawing a major emergency response that included Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service, East Midlands Ambulance Service, and an air ambulance crew.
Sadly, both occupants of the car—identified as teenagers—were pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released their identities.
Four people traveling in the minibus, a white Fiat Ducato, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. One individual has since been discharged from hospital, while three women remain under medical care.
The M1 motorway remains closed in both directions as forensic investigations continue, causing significant travel disruption in the area.
